Ethics and the 3Rs


Norecopa is web-based search engine which enables users to search for and retrieve information on the 3Rs and alternatives to animal experimentation.

This resource comprises of an intelligent search engine which enables the efficient and effective searching of information on the 3Rs, alternatives to animal experimentation and animal welfare simultaneously from Norecopa's four databases: 3Rs Guide (a global collection of information on databases, guidelines, information centres, journals and discussion forums); NORINA (alternatives and supplements to the use of animals in education and training); TextBase (literature within laboratory animal science and related fields including video and slides demonstrating common procedures on a range of laboratory animals).

Norecopa is available in both Norwegian and English.

The resource was developed by Norway’s national consensus platform and competence centre for the 3Rs in partnership with Norges miljø- og biovitenskapelige universitet (NMBU) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Copyright is retained by Norecopa.

This search engine will be of use to all stakeholders involved in animal research including researchers who use animals, those involved in the design of research animal studies, the care and husbandry of animals or in the ethical review of projects
